Jeebika Rural Development Foundation

Jeebika Rural Development Foundation is located at Swades De’s house in Harendranagar village. We are under the Dholahat police station area in South 24 Parganas. It is a very rural spot, hence the name. We focus on development around the village, which covers a lot of ground. It could be anything from farming tips to helping someone find a job. The office is just a part of the house we use for meetings and keeping files. 743347 is a quiet postal code. We see a lot of green fields and muddy roads when we go out to meet people. Dholahat is a bit of a distance, but that is where the main station is. We have been working here for some time now. We know most of the people by their first names. It is not a formal setting. Usually, someone drops by with a cup of tea and we talk about what needs doing in Harendranagar. We do not have much in the way of funding, so we rely on each other. It is hard work sometimes, especially when the weather is bad. But it feels right to be working in our own community. We do not have a big staff, just a few local folks who care. We keep it simple and try to be as helpful as we can be every single day. That is the way it goes here.
