Our office is tucked away in Bangur Avenue, Block-C. We are in the Supercomplex, specifically Flat F-6 on the 1/20 side. It’s a quiet enough part of Kolkata, 700055. Being in a flat means it feels more like a home than a big glass office building. We have Jalan Shipping Agencies written on a small board outside. Inside, it’s mostly just desks, computers, and a lot of files about ships and containers. Kolkata is a city that takes its time, and we do the same with our paperwork. We make sure the shipping details are sorted out so the ships can leave the port on time. Sometimes the lift in the building is a bit moody, so we take the stairs. Most of us who work here live nearby. We know the local tea stalls and where to get a good lunch. The work is steady. We don't spend money on fancy marketing or big ads. We just handle the agencies part of the shipping business. It involves a lot of phone calls to the docks and checking on schedules. It’s a bit cramped when we have a lot of files, but we manage just fine. People come and go, and we just keep the agency running from this little flat in Bangur Avenue. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on.
