Our place is at 39, Rail Way Park. It’s over in Sodepur, Kolkata. Being near the railway means you always hear the trains. It becomes background noise after a week. You don't even notice it anymore. Gtl Infrastructure Ltd. has been operating from this building for quite some time. It’s a bit of an older structure. The stairs are narrow and the rooms are small. But it suits us. We don't need much. Just a desk and a working phone. Kolkata is a city with a lot of history and you can feel it here. The walls have some marks and the windows rattle when the wind blows. We keep a small kettle for making coffee and tea. It’s essential during the monsoon season when it rains for days. Everything gets a bit damp then. We just carry on. We handle the local infrastructure tasks. It’s mostly technical stuff that people don't see. We aren't interested in being flashy. We just want to keep things moving. We have some old maps on the walls. They are a bit yellowed now. We use them more than the digital ones sometimes. It’s a practical way of working. Most of us have been working together for years. We’re like a small family here in Sodepur. We don't have big corporate goals. We just take it day by day. The local market is close by, which is handy for lunch and getting fresh fruit.
