Gatha Apparels Pvt. Ltd.

This branch of Gatha Apparels is out in Village Shibalaya. Our post office is Adi-Kashimpur, in the North 24 Parganas district. It’s a bit of a journey from the main city, but we like it here. It’s much quieter than the center of Kolkata. We have a good amount of space for our work. The building is simple, nothing fancy at all. We have people from the surrounding villages who come in to work. Some of them have been with us for a long time. It feels a bit like a community. We have some old ceiling fans that hum all day long. In the winter, it’s actually quite nice, but the humidity in the summer can be tough. We keep the windows open to get a breeze, even if it brings in some dust. We handle a lot of the assembly and finishing work here. The trucks come by once or twice a week to pick up the finished goods and take them to the distributors. We have to be careful about the schedule because the roads can be rough after it rains. There’s a small pond nearby where some of the guys go to sit during their break. It’s a basic life and a basic business. We just try to do a decent job with the garments and keep everything running as smoothly as possible. There are always challenges, like when the power goes out, but we manage somehow.
