Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd. has been set up here in Bongaon for a while now. We are tucked away in Nayakamar Gram, which is a bit of a quiet spot compared to the main town area. Most days start pretty early because the sun gets quite hot later on. Our team spends a lot of time out on the ground, checking on the projects and making sure things are moving along as they should. It isn't always easy working in this part of North 24 Parganas, especially when the monsoon hits and the roads get a bit muddy. We have a small office where we keep all the files and handle the local labor stuff. It’s nothing fancy, just some desks and a lot of paperwork. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we end up doing things the old-fashioned way. People around here know where we are, right in the village area. We try to keep things simple. If there's a problem on the site, we just go and fix it instead of talking about it for hours. Life at this branch is mostly about managing the day-to-day tasks and dealing with the heat. We’ve got a couple of motorbikes for getting around the narrow lanes. It’s practical work. We don't have big meetings with fancy slides; we just talk over tea and get back to the job. It feels like home after you've been here for a few months.
