Bara Bisweswarpur Fp School

Bara Bisweswarpur Fp School is tucked away in a quiet corner of North 24 Parganas, not far from the Fazilpur post office. Life moves a bit slower here than it does in the bigger towns. We are a primary school, so we deal with the younger kids who are just starting out. The school building is small, just enough for the local children to sit together and do their lessons. We spend a lot of time making sure they get their midday meals and that they stay out of the mud when it rains. The monsoon season is always a challenge because the ground gets so soft and messy around here. We have a small group of teachers who travel in every day. Some of us come from quite far away. We don't have much in the way of fancy equipment. It’s mostly just us, the students, and some old textbooks. We try to keep the place looking decent, maybe planting a few flowers here and there when we have the time. The parents in this part of the country are mostly farmers or small traders, and they trust us to look after their little ones for a few hours. It’s a big responsibility but we just take it one day at a time. The heat can be quite heavy in the afternoons, so everyone is usually tired by the time the final bell rings. We just pack up and get ready for the next day.
