If you take the road toward Birlapur and look for the village of Chak Kashipur, that is where our office is. We are located at number 84 in the Daspara area. It’s a very rural setting, so things move a bit slower here compared to the city. Our office is pretty much part of the neighborhood life. We know the people on our street and they know us by name. Most of our days start quite early when the sun comes up. We deal with local issues that come up in the Nodakhali area. The office is a simple brick building without any fancy decorations. There is usually a bit of dust or mud on the floor from people walking in from the nearby fields. We have some plastic chairs for visitors and an old wooden desk that has been with us for years. It does the job, though. Working in South Parganas means we see the daily struggles of the community firsthand. We don't have a complicated website or someone to manage our image. We just prefer talking to people face to face. Sometimes when the power goes out, we just move our chairs outside and keep working under the trees. It’s a very practical way to stay connected to what matters. The air out here is a lot cleaner than in the middle of Kolkata. We are just a local group trying to help our own people.
