Setting up shop in the Sp Sukhobrishti complex in Newtown Rajarhat was a big change from where we used to be. This part of Newtown is growing so fast with new buildings and people moving in every day. Our studio space is where we keep the cameras, the tripods, and the various backdrops we use for portraits. It is usually a bit cluttered with light stands and power cables running across the floor. We spend many hours sitting at the computer editing photos and trying to get the colors to look just right. Sometimes families come in with loud kids who don't want to sit still, and those are the most tiring but interesting days. Rajarhat has a lot of open space still, so we often go outside to take shots when the light is hitting the buildings just right in the evening. We don't have a big fancy front desk, usually just one of us greets you while holding a lens or a memory card. The Sukhobrishti area is like a little city of its own, and we have gotten to know many of our neighbors who live in the apartments nearby. It’s a lot of manual work, carrying gear around and standing for long hours during a shoot. We just try to capture things as they look in real life without adding too much artificial stuff. It’s a quiet life centered around the lens and the people who walk through our door.
