Sharma Jaggery

If you are driving near Noorpur and pass the Gupta Filling Station, you'll find us right there near the petrol pump. Sharma Jaggery is a small operation, mostly focused on getting the sugar cane processed and turned into jaggery. It’s a sticky business and the smell of boiling juice is always in the air. We don’t have a big corporate office or a marketing team. It’s just us working with the pans and the molds. My family has been doing this for a bit, and we’ve learned that you can’t rush the cooling process if you want it to set right. We sell to locals and people passing through who want something simple and traditional. Our setup is basic because that’s all you really need for good jaggery. Sometimes the fires are too hot or the rain slows us down, but we keep going. We don’t use any fancy packaging or labels. Most people just bring their own containers or we wrap it up in plain paper. It’s a lot of standing over hot steam, but seeing the blocks turn out right is a good feeling. We aren't trying to be the biggest supplier around. We just want to make enough to keep the shop going and keep our regular customers coming back. It’s honest work and we like being near the road where it’s easy for folks to stop by and get what they need.
