We are right near the Sapphir International School over in Basai. If you know where the school is, you really can't miss us. It’s mostly just piles of wood and a lot of dust around here. We have stacks of timber piled up high in the yard. Some days it smells like fresh pine, which is nice, but other days it's just heavy, sweaty work. The trucks come in really early in the morning to drop off the logs and it gets quite loud when the saws are running. That’s just part of the trade we are in. I’ve been working with wood since I was a little kid, following my uncle around his shop. Now I run things here at Yash Timber. It is hard on the hands, with lots of splinters and calluses every week. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights. It's just a yard with a basic roof over some of the stock. Rain is always a worry for us, making sure everything stays dry and doesn't rot. We talk to builders and guys doing small home repairs. They tell us what they need, then we cut it or find the right piece in the stack. Basai is growing fast, so there’s always someone building something new nearby. We don't have a website or any of that. Just this place and our tools. We work until it’s dark, then we lock up. It's just honest work with wood.
