Thirkan Dance Academy

If you live in Supertech Cape Town in Sector 74, you might have heard the music coming from Tower Cb 1. We are in Flat Number-1103. Thirkan Dance Academy isn't a big commercial studio with neon signs. It’s basically a converted space where we teach people how to move. Because we are in a residential building in Noida, we have to be careful about the noise levels, but we still manage to have a good time. The floor is cleared out to make room for the dancers. We have some mirrors on the walls so everyone can see what they are doing. It gets quite warm in there when everyone is practicing, so we keep the AC running as much as we can. Students come in after work or school, mostly carrying their dance shoes in bags. It’s a bit of a squeeze when the classes are full. We spend a lot of time repeating the same steps over and over until everyone gets them right. There’s no stage or fancy lighting, just us and the music. Sometimes the lift takes forever to arrive, so people show up a few minutes late, but we don't mind too much. It feels more like a small club than a formal school. We just like to dance and show others how to do it. It's a simple life here in the apartment. Most of our neighbors are used to us by now, and we try to keep things respectful.
