Spices Of India

Spices Of India is located right in the heart of Jagat Farm in Gamma I. Most mornings start with the heavy metal shutters being pulled up and the sound of the street waking up outside. It’s always a bit dusty around here because of the construction work nearby, so there is a lot of wiping down tables before the first person walks in. We spend a good chunk of the day just keeping things organized. The kitchen stays pretty warm throughout the afternoon, especially when the burners are all going at once. You can usually hear the clinking of metal spoons against pans if you stand near the back wall. Sometimes the delivery bikes get bunched up near the entrance and we have to go out and tell them to move a bit so people can actually get through the door. The sign outside has a bit of a flicker when the power fluctuates, which happens more often than we’d like during the summer months. We keep a few stools near the counter for people waiting on their parcels, and they usually just scroll on their phones while the overhead fans hum away. It’s not a very quiet place, but it feels normal to us. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and know most of the guys working in the shops nearby. It’s just how things go every day in Jagat Farm. Sometimes when it rains, the water pools near the doorstep, and we have to use a squeegee to push it back into the drain. It's just part of being in this building.
