Manas Fabrics is up on the first floor of building F-301 in Sector 63. It’s a pretty standard industrial area, so there are lots of similar buildings around here. We have a decent amount of space, but it fills up fast with the fabric rolls. Usually, the morning starts with checking what came in the night before. The windows look out onto the street, which stays busy with trucks and commuters. We don't have any big signs or anything, just the address on the door. The floor is concrete and stays cold in the winter, so we all wear heavy socks. We’ve got a few cutting tables and some racks for the finished pieces. It isn't a quiet place; there’s always someone moving something or a machine running somewhere nearby. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we end up carrying things up the stairs, which is a real workout. We keep a stash of biscuits in the drawer for when the afternoon slump hits. The work is mostly just making sure the fabric is cut right and sorted into the correct bins. It's a lot of standing around and walking back and forth. We don't really do anything besides fabric work here. It’s just a plain workspace where we try to get through the daily list of tasks without too much trouble. We close up around six most evenings.
