Sawan Marbles & Plywood

Sawan Marbles & Plywood is in Sector 49 Barolla. We have a lot of heavy slabs of marble leaned up against the walls and stacks of plywood sheets in the back. The smell of cut wood is pretty much always in the air. We’ve been in this part of Sector 49 for a long time. People from around the neighborhood come in when they’re fixing up their kitchens or building a new cupboard. It’s a bit cramped in here because of all the stock, but we manage to find what people need. Our clothes usually have a bit of sawdust or stone grit on them by the end of the shift. We have a small table where we sit down with customers to work out measurements on scraps of paper. It’s not a high-tech operation. We use a lot of manual labor to move the heavier pieces of stone. Sometimes the marble has beautiful patterns that we stop to look at before it goes out. The Barolla area is always moving, so we get a lot of walk-in traffic. We don't have a big sign, just the name above the shutter. Most of our tools are well-worn from years of use. We just try to be helpful and give people the materials they’re looking for. It’s a noisy place with the saws going, but that’s just how it is. We like the work we do.
