Ravishing Boutique

Living and working in Gorjinder Vihar at AWHO, life at Ravishing Boutique stays pretty busy. Most of our days are spent surrounded by measuring tapes, chalk pieces, and piles of different fabrics like cotton and silk. It started small, just a few machines and some ideas, and now the room is always full of half-finished suits and dresses. People from around the complex drop by to get their measurements taken or to talk about a design they saw somewhere. Sometimes we spend hours just trying to get the piping right on a neckline or finding the perfect shade of thread to match a dupatta. It's not always glamorous work; there’s a lot of ripping out seams when something doesn't sit quite right. The light in the shop is usually bright so we can see the small details. We keep the scrap pieces of cloth in big bins, and sometimes they come in handy for small adjustments. The sewing machines have a constant hum that you eventually stop hearing after a while. Our tea breaks are short because there is always a deadline for a wedding or a festival coming up soon. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle a needle and a pair of shears. It gets a bit crowded when we have a lot of orders, but we manage to find everything eventually. There is always a stray thread somewhere on the floor.
