Ochoa Laboratories is over at C-171 in Phase II of the Hosiery Complex. If you’ve ever been to this part of the industrial area, you know how the trucks are always lined up and the roads are never quite empty. Our facility is where we handle all the lab work. It’s a lot of white coats and being careful with small glass tubes and various liquids. We have to keep the place quite tidy, which is a bit of a contrast to the dusty streets outside. Most of our day is spent following specific steps and making sure we don't skip anything. It isn't the most exciting work if you like being outdoors, but for us, it’s what we do. The air conditioning is always running to keep the equipment cool. We have a small area for the staff to take their breaks, usually filled with the smell of home-cooked food around noon. Sometimes things go wrong, a machine breaks down or a shipment is late, and then everyone is a bit stressed. But usually, it’s just a steady pace of work. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to make sure the batches we produce are right. The lights stay on late quite often, especially when we have a deadline looming over us. That’s just the reality of running a lab in this part of town. We just keep at it until the work is finally finished for the night.
