We are located over in DLF City. It’s mostly about washing cars and fixing up the small things that go wrong with them. My hands are usually covered in some kind of grease or soap by noon. The sun hits the workshop pretty hard in the afternoons, so we try to do the heavy scrubbing in the shade. It’s not one of those high-tech showrooms. We have a few bays, some water pipes, and a lot of cleaning cloths hanging around to dry. People bring their cars in when they’re looking a bit dusty from the Delhi roads. We just get to work and scrub them down. Sometimes we’re short-staffed and things take a bit longer, but we try to be honest about the time it will take. The tea stall nearby is where we spend our breaks. It’s noisy with the sound of the pressure washers and the cars passing by. We don’t use big words or try to sell things people don’t need. If the car is clean and running okay, then the job is done. A lot of regulars from the nearby apartments trust us because we’ve been here for years. It’s a lot of standing and bending, which gets tiring for the back, but it's okay. We just keep our heads down and focus on the vehicle in front of us. When it rains, things get a bit messy, but that’s just how it goes in this kind of work.
