Our office is at B-31 in Sector 22, Noida. It is a basic building where we deal with the electricity side of things for the local area. Most people only come to see us when they have a problem with their bill or if their meter is acting up. It’s not the kind of place people visit for fun. The office has that typical government or utility company feel, with heavy desks and a lot of official-looking stamps. We spend a lot of time explaining things to customers who are usually a bit annoyed about something. Outside, the Sector 22 streets are always busy with people going about their business. We have a small crew that goes out to fix lines, while a few of us stay back to handle the paperwork. It gets pretty busy during the summer months when the load on the grid is high and things start breaking. We don't have any fancy mission statements on the walls, just a few charts and some safety posters. It’s a lot of routine work, checking numbers and filing reports. Sometimes the line for the payment counter gets long, and we have to try and speed things up. It’s a practical job that keeps the lights on in this part of U.P. We just do our shifts and try to keep the system running.
