Ele

Sonauli Mohammad Pur is a quiet spot. It's deep in Gonda. Ele is just what we call the place. Mostly it's just us handling things out here in the village. The post office is close, which is handy for mail. It gets really hot in the summer, so we keep the windows shut to keep the dust out. People around here know where we are. It’s not a big fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. We have a couple of desks and some chairs that have seen better days. Every morning someone makes tea and we get started. There isn't much traffic, just the usual sounds of the village and maybe a tractor going by now and then. Sometimes the power goes out, so we just sit and wait or talk for a bit until it comes back. It’s simple. We don't have a big sign out front, just the address that everyone uses. If you find yourself in the Mohammad Pur area, you’ll probably see the building. It’s a plain place where we do our daily tasks. No one here wears a suit. We just wear what's comfortable for the weather. It works for us and the people who come by. It’s been this way for a while now and we don’t see much changing anytime soon. Just another day in UP.
