Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

This school is located in Rawatsar, out in the Hanumangarh district. To get here, you take the main road and look for the turn-off near the post office. It is a bit of a drive depending on where you are coming from, but it is a quiet spot for the most part. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been around for some time, and it serves the local villages and the town quite a lot. We have the usual classrooms and some open space where the students spend their breaks. It gets really hot out here during the summer months, so we try to keep the fans running all day long. The building is a standard government-style structure with long corridors. We see a lot of dust coming off the road, but that is just part of living in this area. Our staff lives nearby and knows most of the families who send their kids here. It’s not a place with a lot of extra money for decorations, so things look pretty plain. We just focus on the curriculum and getting through the school year without too much trouble. The teachers spend their afternoons grading papers in the small office. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out. It is a very normal school life here. We don't do anything special, just follow the books and make sure the kids show up on time. It feels like home to most of us.
