If you go down to Phulong Chawk, you can usually hear us before you see us. The sound of the saws cutting through wood is pretty loud and travels quite a bit. Shanker Vijay Saw Mill has been at this spot, 30682 Phulong, for quite a while. The ground is always covered in sawdust, and it gets into your clothes and hair no matter how careful you are. We have big logs sitting in the yard waiting to be sliced into planks. It is heavy, physical work, and you have to be careful with your hands around the blades. The smell of fresh cut timber is something you never really get tired of, though. We work with different kinds of wood, depending on what people need for their houses or furniture. Local builders come by often to pick up supplies. It is a simple setup, just a big open shed and the machinery we need to get the job done. Sometimes the rain slows us down because moving logs in the mud is a mess, but we keep at it. We are just a local mill trying to do right by the people who buy from us. Most of the guys here have been working with wood their whole lives. It is what we know.
