The Nilgiri Woodlands

You can find The Nilgiri Woodlands over on Ettines Road in Udagamandalam. It’s a beautiful part of the world, even if it gets a bit chilly in the evenings. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building has seen a lot of history. We try to keep things running smoothly, but with an old place, there’s always something that needs fixing. Whether it’s a leaky tap or a creaky floorboard, we stay busy. People come to visit Udagamandalam for the views, and we just happen to be one of the stops they make. We aren't a big corporate hotel; we’re just a local spot. Most of our staff have lived in the hills their whole lives. We get a mix of tourists and locals who have been coming here since they were kids. It’s nice to see generations of the same family walk through the door. We don't have high-tech systems or anything like that. We still write down many things by hand in our ledgers. It works for us. The garden outside takes up a lot of our time too, trying to keep the plants alive when the weather turns. We don't make any big promises, we just try to provide a decent place for people to be. It’s quiet mostly, which is how we like it. We’re just part of the landscape here on Ettines Road and we like it.
