New Marble Gallery

If you travel along Ootty Road in Chandakunnu, you will find New Marble Gallery. We have been in this spot for a while, right by the road. The traffic goes by constantly, and sometimes the dust from the street gets on everything. We spend a lot of our time cleaning off the marble so people can see the patterns. It's a simple shop. We don’t have air conditioning or anything like that, just the open front and the breeze when it decides to blow. Moving the marble takes a lot of effort. You need a few strong pairs of hands and some patience. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around. We just want to make sure the folks who come in get what they need. Chandakunnu is a decent place to work. You get to know the neighbors. Some mornings we spend just moving things from one side of the gallery to the other to make more room. It's constant work. We don't use those big polished words to describe what we do. It is just stone, really. People pick what they like, and we help them get it to their truck. My clothes are always a bit grey from the stone work. It’s just part of the day. We stay open until the sun goes down usually. It’s just us here, doing the work we know how to do.
