Uthangal is where we set up Gs Tex. It’s a quiet enough place compared to the bigger cities, which suits us just fine. Most of our days are spent surrounded by rolls of fabric. We deal with all sorts of textiles, moving them from the trucks into our storage space. It can be heavy work, especially when the weather is hot and the humidity makes everything feel damp. We’ve been here for a while now, and the neighbors know us by the sound of the shutters opening in the morning. Inside, it's mostly rows of shelves and a few long tables for measuring and cutting. We don't have a lot of decorations on the walls, just some old calendars and notes about orders pinned up near the door. The dust from the cotton sometimes gets everywhere, so we are always dusting off the surfaces. We drink a lot of water and try to stay productive until the sun goes down. Sometimes customers come by to feel the material before they buy it, so we pull out different rolls for them to look at. It’s practical work. We aren't trying to be anything fancy, just a textile place doing its job day after day. When a big order goes out, the whole place feels a bit empty for a few hours until the next batch of raw material arrives.
