We are located at 360/1 in Indira Nagar, right in Cuddalore. Making solid blocks is a bit different than regular bricks because of the weight. You really feel it in your arms after a few hours of moving them. The cement needs just the right amount of water, otherwise the blocks won't hold up. We spend a lot of time hovering over the mixer. Cuddalore can get quite humid, which affects how fast the blocks dry out on the racks. We have to keep an eye on the sky; if it looks like rain, we have to cover everything up quickly. The yard at Indira Nagar isn't huge, so we have to stay organized. If we let things pile up haphazardly, we run out of room for the trucks to turn around. Most of our neighbors are used to the sound of the vibrating tables by now. It’s a rhythmic noise that goes on for most of the morning. We take our tea breaks together sitting on some of the older blocks that didn't come out quite right. It’s a good time to catch our breath. We don't have any big goals other than finishing the day's work and making sure the blocks are sturdy. It’s just what we do here. It’s physical work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without much fuss. The weekends are for resting the joints.
