World Phone Internet Services Pvt. Ltd. operates out of C-153 in Okhla Industrial Area, Phase-I. It is basically the same building as some other companies, but we have our own corner where all the servers and cables are kept. Being an internet service place, there are always wires running along the walls and technicians coming in and out with their toolkits. The air conditioning is usually cranked up high because the machines get warm, so most of us keep a sweater at our desks even in the summer. Working in Phase-I means dealing with the heavy traffic on the main road every single day. If you don't leave early, you are stuck for an hour just trying to get out of the industrial estate. Lunch is usually something brought from home or ordered from one of the small stalls nearby that sell parathas and chai. We don't have a big lobby or a receptionist; you just walk in and someone will probably ask you what you need. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy keeping the connection running to worry about the decor. It is a practical space for practical work. Most of the time it is quiet until a phone rings or someone starts explaining a technical issue over the desk. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks and try to keep things moving.
