About Gupta Florist – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in New Delhi
We’ve been here at C- 1/1009 in Vasant Kunj for a good while now. Most mornings start pretty early, around 5 or 6, when the fresh loads of flowers come in from the market. It gets messy with all the water on the floor and stems everywhere. People usually just see the finished bouquets in the window, but there's a lot of sweeping and trimming that goes on behind the counter. We’re just a small team, mostly family and a couple of helpers from the neighborhood. Some days are quiet, just a few people stopping by for a single rose or something small for their home. Then you have the wedding season or holidays where it’s just non-stop and we’re barely keeping up with the orders. We don't really do anything fancy with websites or big ads. It’s mostly just people walking by or folks who have been coming to Gupta Florist for years. The shop isn't huge, but we make it work. Sometimes the fridge for the flowers acts up, or we run out of a specific color of ribbon, and we just have to figure it out on the fly. That’s how it goes. Vasant Kunj has changed a lot since we started, with way more traffic and new buildings, but we’re still right here in the same spot. If you ever walk past the block, you’ll probably see us out front moving crates around or watering the pots. It’s hard work, and my hands are always a bit stained, but it is what we do.
