Ruby Sewing Machine

If you are looking for our place, we are in Tughlakabad Extension near the Tara Apartment. It is a bit of a crowded area and parking can be a real pain sometimes. R. Z. 2001-24 is the spot where we keep all the machines and parts. We have been fixing sewing machines for people in this neighborhood for a long time. It gets noisy with all the testing and the sounds of metal clicking. We see all kinds of people coming in with old machines they found in their grandmother’s house or new ones that stopped working for no reason. Our hands are usually covered in oil by noon. There is no air conditioning in the front area so we just use the big fans to keep the air moving. It’s not a polished showroom like you see in the malls. We have shelves filled with thread and needles and spare parts that look like they belong in a museum. Some days we spend hours just trying to get one timing belt right. It takes patience and a lot of tea to get through the afternoon. We don’t really do much advertising because people just tell their neighbors about us. It’s a simple business and we like it that way. We just want to make sure the stitches are straight and the motors run smooth before anything leaves the shop.
