Down here in the Madurai district, our place is in Melur at a spot called Millgate. Specifically, we are at 17 Nethaji Street. It is a fairly straightforward area, not too much noise except for the transport moving through. Being part of the Transport Corporation of India Foundation, we focus on the work that needs doing right here in the local community. The office is pretty basic, just a few rooms where we meet and talk about what's going on. Melur is a busy post, and you see a lot of people coming through for different reasons. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights. Most people around here know where Nethaji Street is anyway. The weather can be quite dry, and the roads get dusty when the wind picks up. We spend our days mostly handling the daily tasks that come with being a foundation in a place like this. It is not like working in a big city office in Chennai or Bangalore. Here, things move at their own pace, and we know our neighbors. We sit at our desks, drink our tea, and try to get through the list of things to do. Sometimes it’s a bit slow, other times it’s a rush, but that is how it goes. We’ve been at this location for some time, and the building has seen better days, but it serves us well enough for the work we do. It’s just us here on Nethaji Street.
