Tea Time Cakes

We usually start things up pretty early here in Vasant Vihar. By the time the sun is actually up, the ovens at Tea Time Cakes are already hot and the first few trays are sitting out on the counters. It is not a very big place, just a simple spot where we spend most of our day covered in a bit of flour. Some people stop by on their way to work because they like the smell of the place in the morning. We don’t really do anything fancy or complicated. It is just us in the back, checking the timers and making sure everything looks right before we put it out on the glass shelves. The neighborhood gets busy later in the afternoon, and that is when most folks come in to grab something for their tea. It gets a bit cramped when three or four people are standing at the counter at once, but we manage just fine. We have been in Vasant Vihar for a while now, and we know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. Sometimes the floor needs a good sweep every hour because of all the crumbs, but that is just how a bakery is. We like keeping things quiet and straightforward. There isn’t much to tell other than we show up, do the baking, and go home once the trays are empty. It is a decent way to spend the day.
