We are located at Plot No. A-204 in the W.H.S. area of Kirti Nagar, right in the heart of the Timber Block. If you know anything about Delhi, you know this is the place to be for wood. T. L. Verma & Co. Pvt. Ltd. has been here for quite a long time. It’s a big yard filled with all kinds of lumber and timber. There are trucks constantly coming and going, so there’s always a lot of shouting and heavy lifting. It’s not a quiet place at all. The air smells like fresh-cut pine and sawdust. We deal with bulk timber for construction and large furniture projects. My grandfather started the company, and now we’re the ones managing the yard. We don’t have a shiny office with air conditioning. We spend most of our time out on the floor, checking the logs and talking to the drivers. Sometimes the weather gets bad and we have to scramble to cover the wood, or a machine breaks down right when we’re in the middle of a big order. It’s a tough business and it’s very physical. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. We just sell wood. We’ve built a reputation over the years just by being here every day and doing what we say we’ll do. It’s a no-frills kind of life, surrounded by timber and hard-working people in the Kirti Nagar market.
