Down at the DSIIDC Complex on Lawrence Road, you’ll find our unit at B-70/27. It’s a busy industrial hub. We spend most of our time inside the workshop area. There are rows of components and workbenches where the assembly happens. It’s not the quietest place because of the machines running nearby, but we’re used to it. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the other business owners on the block. We make switches and related electrical parts. It’s a hands-on kind of job. My hands are usually a bit dirty from the metal and plastic parts we handle all day. We don't have a big front desk or a receptionist. If you walk in, you’ll probably just see someone at a bench or checking a shipment list. We eat our lunch together in the back corner. It’s a simple life, really. We make sure the products work like they’re supposed to before they go into boxes. Lawrence Road can be a nightmare with traffic, so we try to get our deliveries out early in the morning. Sometimes we stay late when a big order comes in unexpectedly. That’s just the way it goes in this line of work. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just make switches and try to do a decent job of it every day. It's loud, it's busy, and there's always something that needs to be packed or moved.
