Surya Sales

Surya Sales is located at Shop No.1/99 in the Timber Market, right there in Whs Kirti Nagar. If you look across the street, you can see Shri Krishna Park. It’s a nice view when we take a break from the sawdust and the noise of the market. Working in a timber area means everything always has a layer of fine dust on it, no matter how much we sweep. The shop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. We keep the doors wide open so people can see what we have. Most of the guys working here have been in the market for decades. We talk about the weather, the price of wood, and the cricket scores. We don't use fancy computers for everything; we still like our paper notebooks and thick pencils. The phone rings a lot, and half the time it’s someone looking for a shop three doors down. We help them anyway. It’s a friendly enough place even though it’s busy. We don't have a grand vision or anything. We just sell what we have and try to be fair about it. On hot days, the shade from the park trees looks really good from our front step. We’re just a small part of the Kirti Nagar scene, doing our bit and going home tired at the end of the day. It’s a simple life surrounded by planks and people.
