Super Gear Cutting

You can find us at Shop C8 in Rampura, near the Mayapuri area. It’s a small place, really. We spend most of our time cutting gears for all sorts of machines. The noise of the cutters is something you get used to after a while. Hari Nagar is right nearby, so there’s always people around. It’s not a fancy setup. We have our machines lined up and enough space to move between them if we’re careful. Gear cutting is specific work; you have to count the teeth and get the pitch right or the whole thing won't spin. We take orders from local repair shops and small factories. Some days the pile of orders is tall, and we stay late to finish. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just bring in their old, worn-out gears and ask us to make new ones just like them. It’s practical, everyday stuff. We’ve got oil on our clothes and grease under our fingernails most of the time. That’s just the life of a gear cutter in this part of Delhi. We do the work, they pay us, and that’s the end of it. No one here wears a suit, and the tea guy comes by twice a day. We just focus on the gears and keeping the machines oiled up for the next job.
