Our shop is over at Mahipalpur, specifically Shop No. 136 in Ward No. 9. We are right near the Chuna Bhatti Chowk, which is a landmark most people in the area know well. It’s a busy intersection, so there’s always the sound of horns and people shouting. Sawariya Sales is a small operation, really. We spend most of our time at the front counter. The walls inside are lined with whatever we are selling that week, and the back room is just for storage. It gets a bit dusty because of all the construction and traffic at the chowk. We usually keep the shutters halfway down if the sun is too direct in the afternoon. People from the neighborhood stop in quite a bit, not just to buy things but to chat about what’s happening in the ward. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the inventory inside out. The floor is concrete, and we’ve got a few old chairs for when someone wants to sit and talk. It isn't a high-end showroom. It is just a place where business gets done day by day. We deal with all sorts of folks. Some are in a hurry, others have all the time in the world. We just take it as it comes, keeping the ledgers updated and the shelves stocked. It's a simple life at the chowk, and we have grown to like the noise.
