Alpana Fancy Dress

We are Alpana Fancy Dress. Our shop is number 125, up on the first floor in the main market of Sarojini Nagar. It’s right across from where they sell the vegetables. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the trucks are unloading. To find us, you have to go up the stairs which are a bit steep. Once you’re inside, it’s mostly just rows of costumes and clothes. We’ve got all sorts of things hanging from the ceiling and piled on the tables. It gets a bit hot in the summer because the fans don't always reach every corner. We aren't big on fancy decorations or anything like that. It’s just a place where we keep the stock and help people find what they need for school plays or parties. We spend most of our time folding things back up after someone looks through the racks. The market noise comes right through the windows, but you get used to it after a while. Sometimes the smells from the vegetable market across the road are pretty strong. We’ve been in this same shop for a good while now. Most people who live around here know where we are because we’re right in the middle of everything. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us working through the day. It’s a simple way to earn a living and we like being part of Sarojini.
