Our place, Sanjay Raju Goel & Co, is tucked away in the Chandni Chowk Cloth Market at number 4800. If you know this area, you know how packed it gets. Every morning is a bit of a struggle just to get the shutters up with all the people and carts moving around. We have been here for a long time, so we know most of the other shopkeepers around us. The building is old and the stairs are a bit narrow and steep, but it has a lot of history. Inside, it is mostly just piles of stock and a small desk where we handle the paperwork. We don't use much fancy technology here. A lot of our records are still kept in ledgers because that is what we are used to doing. It gets very loud during the day with everyone shouting and the general chaos of the market. We take our tea breaks when things quiet down a little bit. It is not the kind of place you would find in a modern mall, but it works for us. We deal with all sorts of people who come through the market looking for things. Sometimes we have a long chat, sometimes it is just quick business. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We are just a small part of this massive market, trying to get through the day’s work and head home to our families.
