Sangeet Shyamala

Sangeet Shyamala is located at A 11/6 in Vasant Vihar. It’s a quiet street for the most part, which helps when you’re trying to listen to the finer points of a song. We’ve been here for years, and the space has become a bit of a second home for many of us. It’s not a fancy institution with glass walls or anything like that. We have some old wooden furniture and some very comfortable rugs where the students sit. Most of the people who come here live nearby, but we get some folks from further away too. We don’t spend much time on marketing or making ourselves look polished. We’d rather spend that time actually playing music or teaching a dance step. The floors are a bit worn down from years of feet moving across them, but we think that gives the place some character. Sometimes the doorbell rings right in the middle of a quiet piece, which is annoying, but that’s life in a busy neighborhood. We keep our doors open to anyone who wants to learn, whether they are five or fifty. It’s a practical place with no big ego involved. We just show up every day, dust off the instruments, and start the lessons. If you’re looking for A 11/6, just look for the house with the most shoes outside the door. We will be inside somewhere working on a new piece.
