Mansha Elevators Co. is located on the ground floor at A-40/1 in Arjun Nagar, which is part of the Safdarjung Enclave area. Being on the ground floor is handy because we’re constantly moving heavy elevator parts and motors in and out of the unit. It saves us the trouble of using a lift ourselves, which is a bit ironic given what we do. The office is a mix of a workshop and a storage room. We have shelves lining the walls with all sorts of buttons, cables, and mechanical components that we’ve collected. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. The front part has a couple of desks where we take calls and handle the daily billing. It’s a busy neighborhood, so there’s always people walking by the front door or delivery bikes zipping past. We keep the door open most of the time for some air, even if it gets a bit noisy. The technicians are usually out on site doing maintenance, so it’s often just a couple of us in the office during the day. We have an old water cooler that makes a loud gurgling noise every hour, but we’ve grown used to it. It’s a straightforward business. We fix what’s broken and make sure people can get between floors without getting stuck. We don't have a lot of time for formalities; we just focus on the machines and get the job done.
