You can usually smell our shop before you even see the sign. We are based in Sector-4 of Rohini at B-5/50. It isn't a massive factory, just a small place where we make dhoop. There are bags of different raw materials stacked up against the walls. The scent of things like sandalwood and rose stays in the air all day long. It gets into your clothes and your hair. My family has been doing this kind of work for a long time now. We aren't interested in being some giant corporation. We just like making these products that people use in their homes every day. The process is mostly manual and it can be quite slow sometimes. We spend many hours each day packing the sticks and cones into small boxes. The neighbors are used to us and the smells. Sometimes the dust from the herbal ingredients makes us all sneeze. We have a small wooden table where we keep all our records and notes. It is a very simple life. We do not have a marketing team or anyone to make things look fancy. The packaging we use is plain, but it does the job just fine. We have to worry about the weather because the humidity can ruin the dhoop. When the air is dry, we try to work much faster. We take our lunch break at the same time every single day. It is a quiet and steady routine. People stop by to buy a few packets and we talk about the news.
