Working in Bhagirath Palace is unlike anywhere else. We are located at 1831, right in the heart of Chandni Chowk. If you’ve been here, you know how packed it gets. Rashtriya Electrical and Engg.Corp has been part of this chaos for quite a while. The lanes are narrow and there are wires hanging everywhere, which is kind of ironic since we sell electrical stuff. Every morning involves maneuvering through the crowds just to get the shutters up. It’s a small space, but we pack it to the ceiling with engineering parts and electrical gear. You have to know exactly where everything is, or you’ll never find it. The walls are a bit stained from years of use, and the floor is worn down from all the foot traffic. We talk to hundreds of people a week, from contractors to homeowners looking for a specific fuse. It’s noisy, hot, and sometimes overwhelming, but there’s an energy to it that you don’t get in the newer parts of Delhi. We don’t really have a website that we keep up with or anything like that. Most people find us by word of mouth or by just wandering into the building. Lunch is usually something quick from a nearby stall while we keep an eye on the shop. It’s a busy life, and we don’t have much time for formalities. We just keep the stock moving and try to help the next person in line. It is just the way business happens in this market.
