Ranbaxy Fine Chemicals Limited has a place at A-3 in the Okhla Industrial Estate, specifically Phase-I. Being in Okhla means we are surrounded by all sorts of factories and workshops, so there is always a layer of dust on the windowsills no matter how often we wipe them down. The building is an older one, but it’s sturdy and serves our purpose well enough. We handle chemicals here, so there are always stacks of containers and a lot of logbooks to keep track of. It’s mostly a lot of quiet paperwork and people moving boxes around on pallets. Our desks are covered in folders and half-empty water bottles. It’s not a high-tech lab look that you see in movies; it’s more of a functional office where people have worked for years. The tea stall right outside the gate is where we usually catch a break and chat with the guys from the neighboring units. The trucks come and go at all hours, so there is always a bit of a rumble in the background. We don't really do much in the way of decoration, just a few calendars on the wall. It’s a busy, plain environment where we just focus on getting through the daily list of tasks. We like the familiarity of the place and the way everyone knows how things work around here. Dealing with the paperwork and the logistics takes up most of our energy during the week.
