Rudra Gems

Rudra Gems is tucked away on the third floor in Nehru Market. Rajouri Garden is always crowded, so finding a spot can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We’ve been dealing with stones and gems here for some time now. It’s a small space, mostly filled with tiny packets and scales. We spend a lot of time looking at stones under the light. It’s quiet up here compared to the street noise downstairs. My father started this, and now I’m handling things with a couple of helpers. We don't have a big glass storefront or anything like that. Most people find us through word of mouth or because they’ve been coming to this market for years. We just try to keep things simple. Dealing with gems requires patience and a good eye, so we don't rush. Sometimes we have tea and just talk to the regulars who drop by to see what’s new in stock. The building is old, and the lift is a bit moody, so most people just walk up the stairs. It’s J 5/101-A if you are looking for the exact door. We just do our work, keep our books straight, and try to stay busy. It’s a decent living and we like the people we meet. The market gets really loud during festival seasons, but we stay focused on the work. Every stone has its own look, and we spend all day sorting them. It's nothing flashy, just a small business in a busy corner of Delhi. The rent keeps going up, but we’ve managed to stay put. We like being in Nehru Market because everyone knows everyone else.
