R K Service Station

Our station is right in Janakpuri, just opposite where Chanakya Cinema used to be. Most people use the cinema as a landmark even though things have changed around here over the years. We spend our days mostly covered in oil or dust. It’s a service station, so there is always a car or a bike waiting for something. Sometimes it’s just a quick check, other times someone comes in with an engine that sounds like it’s about to fall apart. We do what we can. It’s a family-run place, so you’ll usually see one of us out front and another one under a hood. It gets hot in the summer, really hot, but the fans in the back help a little. We don’t have a fancy waiting room with coffee. People usually just stand around and chat while we work or go grab a snack nearby. We’ve been here long enough that we know which cars belong to which family in the neighborhood. We don’t try to sell people stuff they don't need. If a tire is fine, we tell them it's fine. It’s just easier that way. Sometimes the parts take a day or two to get here, and we just have to wait. That's life. We just keep the tools clean and the gates open for whoever pulls in. It is a decent living and keeps us busy. There is always something to do, and we don't mind the hard work.
