Prem Nath Motors Ltd has been at Connaught Place 12 for a long time, sitting right there in the heart of the city where everything happens. You can hear the traffic from the inner circle all day long, that constant hum of cars and buses. Our place has a certain look to it, maybe a bit old-fashioned compared to the new glass buildings, but it feels right for what we do. Dealing with motors and cars in CP is a bit of a challenge because of the parking and the sheer number of people walking around, but we manage. The floors are a bit scuffed from years of shoes and tires moving across them. I spend a lot of my time handling paperwork or talking to people who’ve been coming to us for their vehicle needs since before I can remember. There’s a history to this spot, 12 Connaught Place, that you can almost feel in the walls. We don’t go for anything too flashy. The desks are heavy wood and the tea always comes in those small glass cups from the guy downstairs. It gets busy during the middle of the week, then settles down a bit when the weekend shoppers take over the area. It’s a steady kind of work, looking after engines and making sure everything runs like it should. We just show up, open the doors, and see what the day brings us in terms of repairs or questions from drivers passing through.
