Down in Neb Sarai, near Saket, you’ll find our little place. We call it Hey'sugar. It’s a bit tucked away in the lanes, so you might actually have to look twice to find our front door. We do sweets and various baked things. The smell of sugar and warm flour is always in the air around here. It’s not a big commercial bakery, just a small kitchen where we make stuff in small batches. Sometimes the oven acts up on us, or we run out of a certain ingredient and I have to run to the local market quickly. It’s very hands-on work. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who really like making things. The main counter is usually covered in a bit of white flour, and there are trays cooling on every flat surface we can find. We don't have those fancy glass displays like you see in the big malls. We just put out whatever we’ve made fresh that morning. People from the neighborhood drop by for a quick treat or to order something for a family birthday. It’s personal that way. We know how the regulars like their cakes. Saket is a busy area, but our corner of Neb Sarai feels a bit more relaxed. We don't do much marketing, just people telling their friends. It’s a sweet life. We just try to make something nice.
