National Science Centre

You can find the National Science Centre over at Pragati Maidan on Bhairon Road. It’s a massive building, and those of us who work here spend a lot of time walking those halls. It is a bit different from your typical office job because we are surrounded by all sorts of science exhibits and displays. We don't really have a corporate vibe here. It’s more about keeping the place running and making sure the exhibits are in good shape for whoever walks through the door. Pragati Maidan is a very famous part of the city, so we see all kinds of visitors, from school groups to tourists. Some days are incredibly loud and busy, especially when the big yellow school buses start arriving at the gate on Bhairon Road. Other days, it’s a bit quieter and we can catch up on maintenance. We don’t use any of that polished "mission statement" language. We are just a team of people making sure the lights stay on and the displays work properly. It takes a lot of effort to manage a space this large. Most of the staff have been here for years and we know the building inside and out. Working near the main fairgrounds means there is always some event or trade show happening nearby, which keeps things interesting. We just focus on our daily chores and helping people find their way around the centre.
