Working in Main Bazar at Pahar Ganj is something else entirely. Mukesh & Company is located at 37/8, Vujay Market, which is right in the middle of all the noise and people. If you’ve ever walked through here, you know it’s crowded and loud, but there’s an energy you don't find anywhere else. Our shop is small, but we pack a lot into it. We’ve been here for years, watching the tourists and the locals go by every single day. The building is old and the tiles are a bit chipped, but it works for us. We deal with all sorts of people coming through the door. Some are looking for something specific, and others are just lost. We just try to be helpful. It’s a family business, so you’ll usually find one of us sitting behind the counter with a ledger. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day. It gets hot in the summer, but that’s just Pahar Ganj for you. We keep our stock piled up high because space is tight in Vujay Market. We know the other shopkeepers around us well, and we all look out for each other. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. If you need us, we’re usually here from morning until late evening, just doing what needs to be done to keep things moving.
