Mamayo Clinic

Over in Vasant Vihar at B-2/16, the Mamayo Clinic sits in one of New Delhi’s more established neighborhoods. It’s a different vibe from our other locations. The street is usually lined with cars, and the houses around here have a lot of history. Our clinic fits into a residential-style building, which makes it feel a bit more like a home than a hospital. The stairs can be a bit steep for some, so we spend a lot of time helping people up. Inside, the rooms are spread out in a way that’s a bit confusing if it’s your first time visiting. We have the reception area right by the entrance, and there’s usually a pile of old magazines on the table that nobody ever reads. The staff here has a routine down to a science—first person in turns on the lights and the second person starts the water heater. We deal with everything from minor coughs to more complicated stuff. Delhi summers are brutal, so our electricity bill is always high because the AC has to run constantly. We know the local shopkeepers and the people who walk their dogs past the gate every morning. It’s just a steady, local clinic where we try to stay on top of the paperwork and the patients. We’ve been here for a few years now and the walls are covered in various charts and notices that we really should organize better.
