Our place is right at the Ajmeri Gate Chowk, specifically at 5288 G B Road. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded it gets. There is noise from the traffic all day long. We’ve been operating Mahabir Prashad Jain & Co from this spot for quite some time now. It’s a narrow building, typical for this area, but we manage to fit everything inside. Most days start early before the heat and the crowds really pick up. We deal with whatever customers walk through the door. Usually, it's people looking for specific items for their own shops or homes. We don't do anything special here, just the usual daily grind of running a business in a busy market. My father used to be here, and now I handle things with a couple of helpers. The stairs are a bit steep and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it works for us. We know most of the neighbors around the chowk. It’s a community where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We keep our ledgers by hand mostly. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to park even a scooter nearby. But being central like this means people can find us easily enough if they are already in the market. We just keep going, day after day, trying to make sure the orders are right and the stock is where it should be.
